‘It Is A Dream Come True’ – Kabak Opens Up On His Move To Liverpool

Turkey international Ozan Kabak was confirmed as a Liverpool player on loan from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 before the closure of the January transfer window and the defender has opened up on his ‘dream move’ to Anfield.

Kabak joined the Premier League champions on loan until the end of the season with an £18m buy-option agreement.

With the lengthy absence of defenders like Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, Liverpool were left with no senior center-half in the first team which forced Jurgen Klopp to field midfielders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at the back on several occasions.

Liverpool had to fill the center-back void by signing Kabak coupled with Ben Davies from Preston North End.

Speaking to the club’s official website for the first time, the former Stuttgart man admitted he cannot wait to put on the red jersey.

“Liverpool was my childhood team. So I always wanted to come to this club, to play at this amazing stadium, in front of these amazing fans,” he said.

“It’s a dream for me. Now the dream comes true.”

“I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s one of the best coaches in the world. I have heard a lot of things about him from my ex-coach David Wagner – he told me a lot of things about him.

“Like I said, I’m looking forward to working with him, to take some things from him.”

The 20-year-old also described Van Dijk as the best defender in the world and insists he is looking forward to playing with the Netherlands superstar.

“Virgil van Dijk is, I think, the best centre-back in the world at the moment. The last three or four years he was always on his best performance,” he said.

“He’s strong, he’s good, he’s so fast, he’s clever. So that’s why I see him as an idol. I want to meet with him as soon as possible, to be honest.”
